Kindness

Have we, as a people, become so detached from being human, humility, & empathy that we need to be reminded to be kind? Do we need to develop a task force of professionals to role model to other professionals how to be kind? To say that it is ‘ok’ to be kind? How to show kindness? What is kindness?

Is this real? Or, a far-side cartoon?

What is wrong with us as a people that we value incivility before kindness? If not innate, didn’t we learn this basic skill in kindergarten? Where are we going wrong?….Sigh…

Ok, let us start with how to be kind – the basics.

What is this elusive word kindness?

It seems simple enough.

Kindness can be described as the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate toward others. However, it goes beyond just being nice, it involves empathy, compassion, and taking action to help and support others. Genuinely.

When we share kindness, we actively display acts of goodwill, such as offering a helping hand, showing empathy toward someone’s challenges, or simply being considerate and understanding in our interactions.

By being kind and sharing kindness, we contribute to the creation of a more positive and harmonious environment. Engaging in acts of kindness can improve our relationships, foster a sense of community, and uplift the spirits of both the giver and the receiver. It also has a ripple effect, as one act of kindness can inspire others to do the same, creating a chain of positivity.

It is important to note that sharing kindness is not limited to grand gestures or extraordinary acts. Even small, daily acts of kindness, like a smile, a compliment, or a listening ear, can have a significant impact on someone’s day and overall well-being.

If this truly is an issue, than we must be vigilant in our efforts! We need to create a culture of kindness in our interactions with others, which can extend to our family, friends, colleagues, and even strangers.

In today’s fast-paced and often challenging world, kindness is more vital than ever. It has the power to heal wounds, bridge divides, and bring people closer together. So let us remember to be kind and share kindness, be certain that your efforts will not only benefit others but also nourish your own soul, making the world a brighter and happier place for everyone.

Until next time,
